Cathedral Singers: GLORIA – Rutter, Bach, and brass!

The triumphant three-movement Gloria by John Rutter is the cornerstone of this concert. The work sparkles with fanfares from the 8-part brass ensemble at its opening and closing, but also features an achingly beautiful central movement with a heavenly crescendo and angelic vocal lines. More brass music rounds out the concert, including a rare gem, the motet O Jesu Christ meins Lebens Licht – the only one out of J. S. Bach’s thousands of works which is written for brass ensemble and choir alone.
