Written for Palm Sunday over 300 years ago, the cantata Himmelskönig, sei willkommen still resonates today. The baroque recorders and strings, along with vocal quartet, create an intimate, welcoming feeling as the text calls us to invite Christ into our hearts, just as He was welcomed with palms while riding into Jerusalem… a fitting prayer for Palm Sunday. The hope of Easter shines through this music like a beacon of light.
