“WATCHERS ON THE HILL”
A series of special midweek services for Lent
The hill called Golgotha was not empty that Friday. Besides the crosses and those dying upon them, there were witnesses—watchers on that ancient hill. This year we overhear the conversations between those first-century characters as they witnessed the death of our Lord. Each drama draws us into the reality and significance of our Savior’s death and celebrates our salvation as well.
ASH WEDNESDAY
FEBRUARY 17, 12 NOON AND 7:00 P.M. – “THE CROSS CARRIER”
Imposition of Ashes and celebration of Holy Communion; Jubilate Choir.
We find that, even as Simon of Cyrene left the cross in the dust of Calvary, to, too, we leave our sins at the cross of Jesus.

Sixth Grade sings
As Judas visits the cross of the Master he betrayed, we discover that Jesus’ sacrifice means that even the greatest of sins can be forgiven.
WEDNESDAY, MARCH 3, 7:00 P.M. – “THE ONE IN THE MIDDLE”
Kantate Choir (5th grade) sings
In a thought-provoking dialog between a callous observer and the sister of a thief, we are let in on the discovery that heaven is ours.
WEDNESDAY, MARCH 10, 7:00 P.M. – “THE GOOD SON”
Hosanna Choir (4th grade) sings
As two women contemplate “The Good Son,” we, too, are
led to contemplate Jesus’ obedience – “even unto death.”
WEDNESDAY, MARCH 17, 7:00 P.M. – “FORSAKEN”
2nd Grade Sings
Two soldiers stand guard at the cross, turning our thoughts to a
journey only the Son of God could return from – the descent into hell.
WEDNESDAY, MARCH 24, 7:00 P.M. – “THE GIFT”
Special Presentation by the 3rd Grade
As Mary Magdelene and Nicodemus await the final, wrenching
moments of their master’s life, we witness God’s great gift of salvation.
