Called to Service
It's only an hour and a half away from our homes. Yet, it is a completely different world, a world that many of us forget or sometimes even ignore. Mexico, a country literally attached to California but with very different living conditions, conditions very close to that of a third world country. In Luke chapter 4 verse 18, Christ speaks about being anointed by the Spirit to "preach the good news to the poor" and the calling to meet all needs of all people. We have also been called to serve those around us in this same capacity, be that through our time, talents, treasure, or testimony.
This year, we have been given an opportunity to serve our fellow brothers and sisters in Christ living in Mexico. St. John's has teamed up with Baja Christian Ministries to physically and spiritually minister to the poor in Mexico. We are currently planning our first Mexico mission trip with Baja Christian Ministries for the weekend of December 1st and 2nd. We will be building two, three bedroom homes, one sponsored by the high school youth and another by the families of St. John's.
This trip is a chance for youth and adults alike to put their faith into action in service to our Lord. If you would like more information about this ministry, want to sign up to participate, or would like to make a donation, please e-mail Jeremy DaPena.
