What is confirmation?

Confirmation is the process of developing young men and women to move to a mature faith in Christ. During this process, they grow in faith, to truly understand the meaning of “growing in faith” and becoming adults in the church. They learn so many aspects of faith and how to truly live their lives as men and women of faith. Students meet 3 days a week in our school. Students who attend a public school meet on selected Sundays each month throughout the year.   An introduction meeting for parents and students wishing to be confirmed will be scheduled in September.

What is Starting Line?

Starting Line is Bible study/game night on Wednesday evenings in Common Grounds. We have a chance to hang out, play some games inside or out.   We might play a video game, drink a Dr. Pepper and -- let’s not forget --  study God’s word.

When is the next ROCK78?

In May, we are doing a Rockin Lockin. It will start with the Awakening service on the 25th of May.   We will do some bowling, worshiping, and, of course, we will hang out and have a blast.  You must sign up with Pastor Will by May 16th and pay the 40 dollars.

What is Awakening?

Awakening is the service on Sunday evenings. It is geared towards you.   This service,  with a youth band and themes, are specifically for you.  Check out the worship link on the youth page to see more.

What about summer camps?

Summer Camp will be on July 6-11th.  This year we are again going to Thousand Pines. Last year, the 7th graders headed up there and we had an awesome time. This year, it will be both 7th and 8th grade. Only 20 spots are available, so be sure to sign up early. The cost this year will be $420. You can grab a sign up sheet from Pastor Will in his office or before or after Awakening. You need to sign up by May 16th with 100 dollar registration fee.  We are working on opportunities to do fundraising so that you can raise money for this trip.

When do I become a 7th grader for Rock 78 and all the other events?

Immediately following 8th grade graduation on June 6th, all of the 6th graders will become 7th graders and all of the 7th graders will become 8th graders. All of the 8th graders will become 9th graders.   So, YES, that means that all of 6th graders will become 7th graders and are absolutely invited to Rock 78 and other Jr. High events.   The summer is a great time to get acclimated to Jr. High events and for the new 9th graders to become a part of the High School events before school starts again.

Where do I sign up for events?

Sign-up and registration for all events are available in Pastor Will’s Office. Or you may e-mail Pastor Will at whanke@stjohnsorange.orge, or sign up before or after the Awakening service on Sunday evenings.

Where are the Common Grounds?
This is our youth room and it is located on the first floor of the Chapman Building, closest to Chapman Avenue. It is in the northwest corner of the building. This is where most on-campus youth events happen.
