St. John's Walking Program
walk for good health!
| St. John's Walking Program |
Fashioned after the "Walk to Jerusalem/Walk to Bethlehem" programs developed by the parish nursing team of St. John Health System in Michigan, The St John's Walking Program is designed to increase the physical, emotional and spiritual health of participants. An imaginary trip to Bethlehem is accomplished by individuals within the church and community who log their own walking (or jogging or treadmill, etc.) miles each week beginning in September, add them to the miles walked by other participants, and collectively try to accumulate enough miles to reach a specific destination.

An imaginary trip to Jerusalem is accomplished by individuals in the church and community who log their own walking (or jogging or treadmill) miles each week beginning January 1st, add them to the miles walked by other participants, and collectively try to accumulate enough miles to reach Jerusalem in time for the celebration of Easter.
Invite your family and friends to walk with you... form a walking group with other participants in the program, to increase your motivation by holding each other accountable ... Or, encourage healthy competition with classmates or colleagues at work! Here's a brochure with more information and your personal mileage card to get you started... If you have questions, contact St. John's parish nurse at marla.lichtsinn@psd-lcms.org or call the Congregational Care & Prayer office (714-288-4432).
