Lutheran Women’s Missionary League (LWML)Lutheran Women's Missionary League

Second Monday & Third Wednesday of each month 9 a.m. - 12:00 noon, Walker Hall Dining Room. (Meets September through June.) LMWL, supports each woman in her relationship with Christ and empowers her to use her God given gifts in ministry. Women members of St John’s are part of the 200,000 volunteers in the United States and Canada that make up LWML. Women at St. John’s meet monthly to do special projects, which benefit mission programs world-wide.

LWML is famous for their Mite Box project, that little white and purple box is used to collect pennies, nickels and dimes to support mission projects, i.e. 75% goes to District and 25% to National. Based on the Biblical story of the widow’s mite, the mite box is intended for contributions above and beyond to church or Synod. Our “mitey mites” add up to millions of dollars when put with other fellow Christian men and women across the nation. You can pick up a list of projects at our Mite Box table in the courtyard the last Sunday of the month and also a mite box to fill and bring back each month.

Our stamp project is called “Stamps for Missions.” The money raised by saving used postage stamps and trimming them, goes to local Mission projects that have a cross-cultural emphasis.  We appreciate donations of used stamps from our church members. You may drop them off at our Mite Box table or in the church office.
