For the past six months St.John’s historic, 100 year old Sanctuary has been closed for a well deserved restoration and renovation. Virtually every surface inside the building has been given a fresh finish. The outside of the structure has been cleaned, painted, re-mortared, and reinforced for earthquake safety. The building was fitted with a modern electrical system and enhanced video and sound equipment. The people of St.John’s have aptly named this special project, “Preserve the Blessing.”

Thank you!

Seeing the pictures reminds me of my grandfather, Albert W. Sonnenberg, Sr., who built kneelers for the altar area in the early 1970's. He was a craftsman. Now a new generation of craftsmen are working on the restoration.

Seeing the Altar and Jesus with scaffolding in front of and a worker above make me wonder while the is not protection of the two from falling debris and tools?

Bob,
Rest assured that every precaution will be taken. The scaffolding around the altar has just been assembled, work in that area had not yet started when the photo was taken.

Is anything being done to improved the acoustics in the sanctuary?
St.John's Orange July 8, 2015 4:29pm
ACOUSTICS: An acoustical analysis has been completed as part of the design process for our new audio system. The manufacturer has designed a loud speaker system that will greatly improve the quality of the audio sound while maintaining the integrity of the architectural and historical look of the building.
