Hurricane Harvey

Posted by Pastor Tim Klinkenberg on

Everybody is aware of the amazing hurricane and resulting disaster in Houston.  As St. John's gathered together in worship yesterday, our former Pastor, Chris Singer, and his family lost their home to flooding just north of Houston.  Yesterday, there were text messages and today I reached out to Pastor Chris on the phone.  He related to me that the best thing we can do is pray that the storm system be moved to the east and run off water simply dissipate.  Pastor Chris and so many others are involved in rescue work. This is our prayer and this is our purpose until the clean-up efforts begin, probably the end of the week.

Yesterday in the Sanctuary we had an opportunity to support Fuel Relief Fund and will do so again going into the future.  Fuel to run generators and pumps for emergency services are critical to meeting the needs of groups like the Red Cross.  Your gifts sustain life and give immediate assistance to those in desperate need.

Currently, the tanker we helped support is in San Antonio, Texas, and waiting for word to get on their way to the Houston area.

Please pray and give.  I will be back with more updates from the ground in Houston as things begin to sort out.

Our Lord provides opportunity for us to serve when it's our time.  Time to rise up!

 Much love in Jesus,
Pastor Tim Klinkenberg
